|
On 1 October 2008, there were changes to local authority tenants ‘Right to Manage’ and the Tenant Empowerment Programme. It is now much easier for tenants to get involved in managing their homes. When tenants are involved directly in the management of their homes, landlords benefit from their local knowledge. Changes include:
- An easier and quicker route for tenants to set up a tenant management organisation.
- A ‘starter’ route where tenants can get involved without too much commitment by just taking on management of some services, operations or budgets, for example, communal cleaning.
- There is a voluntary route to full management which creates a better partnership between tenants and landlords.
There will be more information published in November and we will keep you up to date of all changes. For specific enquiries, please e-mail tenantempowerment@housingcorp.gsx.gov.uk or phone the Tenant Participation Team on 0800 25 26 27. |

TENANTS have taken the lead in shaping the future of council housing and have put their recommendations forward to the council.
The Housing Options Panel, created to lead a review of council’s housing stock, has recommended to the council that the stock should be transferred to a Registered Social Landlord (RSL) and for Golden Gates Housing (GGH) to become the RSL to run it. Click here for the full presss release. |

Way back in 2004, GGH was set up to make sure all council properties in Warrington were made 'decent'.
